Inflammation causes stress internally and is directly linked with pain. If the source of the inflammation is not identified and properly treated it turns into chronic inflammation also known as chronic disease. An example of untreated inflammation that leads to chronic disease is an inflammatory bowel condition called “IBS” or irritable bowel syndrome. IBS starts with common gastrointestinal symptoms that is usually diagnosed as gastroenteritis (the suffix itis at the end of a diagnosis means inflammation) but if the inflammation goes untreated for too long, IBS can be debilitating and even lead to a permanent colostomy bag.
